O'Neil She was still in high school year when she took part in the auditions, tried out in the 3rd season of Canadian Idol within the early months of 2005. The judges loved her voice and she was able to advance to the Top 100 Round. O'Neil was praised by the judges. She was however a complete loser in the Top 10 Week as well as the Top 9 Week of the Finals. The judges were shocked by the outcome and urged the audience to support those with great singing talent such as Melissa. O'Neil was always delivering top performances ever since, has always finished in the third place. The judge Werner said, following another two incredible performances, that O'Neil would be the winner in her Canadian Idol competition, as being the first female and youngest in show history after the 7th September finals in 2005. O'Neil was contacted immediately from Canadian Premier Paul Martin, congratulating on her victory on Canadian Idol.
